Implants have a reputation for sounding scarier than they are. In reality, most patients tell us the placement appointment was easier than a filling — and the result feels so natural they forget which tooth was replaced. Here is the whole journey, demystified.
Stage 1: the assessment
We take a 3D scan, assess bone volume and talk through alternatives honestly — implants are superb, but not always necessary. You leave with a fixed written quote covering implant, abutment and crown.
Stage 2: placement day
Under local anaesthetic, a surgical guide positions the implant precisely. The appointment usually lasts under an hour. Most patients return to work the next day with ordinary pain relief and a temporary tooth in place.
Stage 3: healing (the boring part)
Over 8–12 weeks the implant fuses with your jawbone. There is little to feel and nothing to do — just normal life while biology does the work. We check progress once midway.
Stage 4: the crown
Your final crown is shade-matched, fitted and bite-checked. Then it is simply your tooth: brush it, floss it, eat with it, and see us yearly so we can confirm the implant stays healthy for decades.
Still nervous? Come and talk first — implant assessments are unhurried, obligation-free, and full of straight answers.
